With Christmas only two days away, some people are already starting their holiday travel. And for some in the Lake Region it will happen sooner than expected. Although people are usually finished making travel plans by now, the expected storm has delayed this. This also means starting holiday trips early to beat the storm.

Although the economy may have slowed travelers in some parts of the country, people are still on the move in Devils Lake. Some people started booking their holiday travel plans as early as July. Some are flying, and Amtrak is nearly full. Travel agents say people's concerns about the weather and last minute changes to plans are keeping them busy.

Janet Hanson/Champeau Travel Owner: "I had people that are going to Mexico not until Monday, and they are leaving today for Minneapolis to make sure that they'll catch their flight."

Hanson says she's been so busy she was in the office for a full day today and will be for at least half the day tomorrow.
