GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - The Grand Forks International Airport added a new destination to its list. Allegiant Air already had flights to two cities and a new addition on the map put a smile on snow bird's faces.

"Today is the first flight that we've got for allegiant to Orlando, so this is a new service that's getting started in our community with nonstop service to Orlando," said Patrick Dame, GFK Executive Director.

With only one other airline flying out of the airport, Allegiant is giving passengers a cheaper option.

"Delta was about 500 dollars for the trip, Allegiant Air was only 124 dollars," said passenger, Jim Wisdom.

"Well it's just another vacation spot, another destination, another choice as you try to escape the cold," said Brian Michaels, flight promoter.

"It's really good for our community you know our snow birds and families that want to go down and visit warmer weather or go see disney," said Dame.

It isn't just the warmer weather that's attracting people to fly Allegiant Air.

"The facility is really nice the airline people are really nice and I can't think enough of Allegiant to get me home. Every trip I'm gonna take I'm gonna look at Allegiant first," said Wisdom.

Allegiant's Orlando destination has already proved to be a hit. The airline is hoping to add more destinations in the future.

"We're really working on getting as much service and as many destinations into Grand Forks as possible," said Dame.
