GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Many new Americans were among more than 100 hungry people eating an early Thanksgiving supper at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
The second annual dinner was for refugees forced from their homes for religious, political or ethnic reasons.
Most came to Grand Forks in the past year from Nepal.
Up until now, they lived in refugee camps for 10 to 20 years.
“We hope in doing this that we move from being strangers to neighbors and maybe even friends,” St. Mark's pastor Paul Trenne said.
80,000 refugees flee to America every year.
