Website: Grand Forks 2nd Coldest City in US

(WDAZ-TV) - While we're finally dealing with truly cold temperatures in the region, a popular news website says Grand Forks is the second coldest city in the country, right behind Fairbanks, AK.
The Daily Beast, which also owns the magazine Newsweek, says Grand Forks had an average winter temperature in 2009 of 14.8 degrees.
The coldest day that winter was January 2, seeing a frigid -32.8 degrees on the mercury, while the warmest winter day was March 30, with 66.2 degrees.
We're no slouch when it comes to snow, either. The site says nearly half of the days in winter 2009 saw snow.
Compared to the leader, Fairbanks, they're quite a bit colder and less snowy. The site says the average winter temperature in 2009 was -.6 degrees, with the coldest day at -41.1 degrees and the warmest was 48.2. The city saw 38% snowy days.
