GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Police say an 84-year-old Grand Forks man caused a three-vehicle accident after he took his eyes off the road as he used his wipers to clear his windshield.

Cameran Nelson was driving a 2010 Chevy Equinox north in the 600 block of S. 34th St. at about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Nelson told police that he took his eyes off of the road and struck a 2007 Chevy Impala driven by Denise Hartze, 40, of Grand Forks.

The impact of the collision propelled Hartze's vehicle into the rear of a 2009 GMC Sierra Pickup driven by Jon Bradbury, 40, of Grand Forks.

Hartze's vehicle left the road and came to rest on the berm on the east side of S. 34th St. She was taken to Altru Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Nelson was cited with care required when operating a motor vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation. If you witnessed it or have any information, call police at 787-8000.
