Hot Holiday Items Fly Off Shelves

GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) - TV's may have been a top seller on "Black Friday," but now stores in town are having a difficult time keeping up with consumer demands. Popular electronics such as cameras, phones, and gaming consoles are just a few hot items.

For Black Friday deals, some Best Buy customers skipped Thanksgiving dinner to get a good deal on TV's, but now cameras, iPhones, and iPad's have sky-rocketing sales.

"Between the kindle fire and the iPad are our two hottest ones. Tablets are really crazy over here, our highest sales are there. Any MP3 devices are really hot specifically the iPod Touch. Really big with the color, the white that just came out recently," said Best Buy Customer Solutions Manager, Nichole Peterson.

Best Buy Managers say they're seeing a peak in white Apple items, mainly because people like to personalize their electronics. Besides smaller devices, there's one electronic in particular that stores can't seem to keep in stock.

"We have a hard time even keeping it on the shelves, the wii console," said Target Executive Team Leader, Brian Tiry.

"Seems like everybody's doing a lot of social and family gaming this year getting everybody inside, its getting a little colder, even though we don't have any snow," said Peterson.

"It's something that will really bring the family together, there are games for all ages as well, just to get the entire family involved," said Tiry.

Brings people together, and keeps the family off the couch.

"With all the systems now they have the active games so it keeps their kids moving. This time of year a lot of people go inside and they want their kids out of their hair type of thing and so they get them a gaming console," said Peterson.

Other popular holiday items include the Keurig coffee machine, and for kids, barbies and transformers. Technology is always changing and everyone wants the newest thing. Sales associates say it's always about upgrading.
