GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Salvation Army says it's almost halfway towards meeting this holiday's donation goal.

Major Jonathan Fjellman says the organization hopes to raise $110,000 in donations collected by bell ringers and $350,000 total with all sources combined.

Fjellman says the lack of snow is helping them stay on track.

"As soon as the snow starts coming, it makes it harder to get around, some people stop shopping, but I think they're shopping pretty well right now," Fjellman said.

The money that's raised goes to the local assistance programs like the food shelf, utilities and housing assistance.
