Nebraska Murder Suspect Faces ND Extradition Hearing

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — An extradition hearing has been scheduled for a Nebraska murder suspect jailed in North Dakota.

KTIV-TV reports 53-year-old John Baker, of South Sioux City, Neb., is expected to appear Tuesday in a McLean County courtroom.

Baker was arrested Oct. 24 at a relative's house in Garrison. He is accused of killing his girlfriend, 47-year-old Kelly Alspach, in their Nebraska home.

Baker's extradition hearing had been on hold while his mental health was evaluated. A judge will consider the results of the evaluation in deciding whether to order Baker back to Nebraska to face prosecution.

Alspach's body was discovered Oct. 21 stuffed in a window seat of the couple's home. An autopsy found she died of blunt force trauma to the head and positional asphyxia.
