NEAR BEMIDJI, MN (WDAZ-TV) - Three people have been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in which two shots were fired at a house near Bemidji.

The suspects, Edward and Darwyn Halvorson and Gretchen Swenson, were arrested late Monday after the shots were fired early Saturday morning in the 3100 block of Mill St. NE in Bemidji Township.

Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp says Darwyn and Gretchen's son Edward is accused in the drive-by shooting. Edward allegedly shot the two bullets from a high-powered rifle as he was in his vehicle outside the home.

Investigators found the two slugs in the home, one which struck a mattress in a bedroom. No one in the home was injured.

Authorities say the victims were witnesses in Halvorson's drunk driving case where he crashed his vehicle in June 2011 at the Green Mill parking lot. The case was set for trial in the next few weeks and Halvorson had recently learned the victims were set to testify at the trial.

Halvorson, 37, is being held on a felony charge of drive-by shooting, witness tampering and transferring a weapon to a person ineligible to possess a firearm.

His father, Darwyn, 71, was arrested for aiding an offender, felon in possession of a firearm and investigation of possession of stolen property.

Edward's mother, Gretchen Swenson, 63, was arrested for aiding an offender.

The three suspects are in custody at the Beltrami County Jail. Investigation is still underway.
