BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A survey concludes that the smoking rate among North Dakota high school students has decreased over the past two years.

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that 19.4 percent of students in the state smoke, down from 22.4 percent in 2009.

The North Dakota Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control Policy has worked with school districts around the state the past two years. Executive Director Jeanne Prom says the decrease in the smoking rate shows that the health campaign is working.
