Man Charged in Bemidji Gun Assault, Standoff

BEMIDJI, MN (WDAZ-TV) - A 26-year-old man has been charged in an assault and ensuing standoff in the early-morning hours Tuesday.
Bemidji police report Daniel Wayne Jourdain is suspected of hitting a 37-year-old victim in the head with the barrel of a sawed off shotgun that resulted in a large laceration.
The assault was reported around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of Westwood Acres.
Jourdain remained at the home and refused to speak with police. Officers evacuated neighboring homes as the standoff took over three hours. Eventually, Jourdain surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.
The victim was treated for injuries in the assault.
The Bemidji Police Department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Headwaters SWAT team.
