FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The last North Dakota National Guard member to serve in Iraq has returned home.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says Staff Sgt. Teresa Pavljuk of the Air National Guard's 119th Wing arrived in Fargo Wednesday afternoon.

About 2,000 North Dakota Guard members have served in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Pavljuk was deployed in March to work in air transportation.

Dalrymple says Pavljuk's service closes an "impressive chapter" in North Dakota's support of bringing peace and stability to Iraq and the region.
