(WDAZ-TV) - On Sunday, teens under the age of 18 will no longer be able to talk on the phone while they're driving in North Dakota.

It's illegal for all drivers to text and drive in North Dakota.

In April, legislators passed a law, which makes talking illegal for teen drivers. Teenagers will be able to use their phones in emergencies.

The state safety council's Terry Weaver says the bill brings North Dakota up to speed with more than half of the country.

The state will become the 30th to enact laws prohibiting teens from talking while driving.

Weaver encourages parents to talk with their children about not using their phone while driving.
