GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for portions of northern and eastern North Dakota and a few counties in west central Minnesota.

The advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday.

An area of low pressure will drop from northwest North Dakota to southern Minnesota, spreading light snow across the region. Freezing rain could precede the snow south and west of a line from Devils Lake to Fargo.

Total snow accumulations of two to four inches are possible, with some heavier amounts. The snow should taper off by Friday morning.

Included in the advisory are the following counties: West Polk, Norman, Clay, West Becker, Cavalier, Eastern Walsh, Grand Forks, Steele, Traill, Cass and Western Walsh County.

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow and patchy freezing rain will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities.
