GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Alerus Center's former management firm VenuWorks has entered into another contract with the events center.
This contract is for the next three years.
VenuWorks will hold the liquor license and Ticketmaster services. The management firm will also pay the salary of the food and beverage director.
VenuWorks made a proposal at the end of October. The Alerus Center Commission planned on putting out a request for proposals to get quotes from other third parties.
But executive director Cheryl Swanson says modifying the VenuWorks contract seemed like the best option.
"Which is a tremendous cost savings because of the volume of tickets that the entire company VenuWorks sells helps the Alerus Center save money," Swanson said.
The contract went into affect January 1st. The city now manages the Alerus Center. Because of state law, the city cannot hold the liquor license.
