(WDAZ-TV) - Montana authorities have given up hope that a missing North Dakota woman will be found alive.

They believe 82-year-old Florence Dumontet of Ardoch, who's been missing for three months, is likely dead.

There's been no trace of Dumontet since she cashed a traveler's check at a gas station in Butte, Montana on October 16.

That's the same day she left her home in her pick-up truck to visit family in Washington state.

Sargent Dan Hillebrand of the Grand Forks Sheriff's Department says Dumontet has not made contact with anyone.

"When the time goes to the extent it has now, we have to start leaning in that direction, but we're still pursuing this as if it's an open investigation," Hillebrand said.

Dumontet's DNA and dental records have been put into a national database.
