At the request of Officer Schneider’s family there will be no video, audio or still photography available inside the church.

There will be two funeral processions immediately following the funeral service (approximately 2 p.m.).

The second procession begins immediately after the first and includes the Schneider family along with Officer Schneider’s casket (being carried by horse-drawn carriage), the Lake City Police Department, Lake City staff along with Goodhue and Wabasha county police, fire and EMS. It is estimated that the horse-drawn carriage will take approximately one hour to complete the nearly four-mile route.

Members of the public are encouraged to pay their respects along the procession route. St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church will be ringing its bell during the procession. The bell will ring 261 times – once each for every officer who has given his or her life in the line of duty in the State of Minnesota. This is the first time ever for such a tribute. The Law Enforcement Memorial Association (LEMA) plans to adopt this tradition for any future line of duty funeral. A complete list of fallen officers from Minnesota is available on the LEMA website http://mnlema.org/

Officials estimate as many as two-thousand officers from across the country may attend the funeral.
