6 Injured in Lakota, ND, Crash

Charges under investigation
LAKOTA, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Six people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Lakota early Wednesday evening, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

LAKOTA, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Six people were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Lakota early Wednesday evening, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The identities of those injured and their conditions have not been released.

Just after 5 p.m., a driver and two passengers were in a 1996 Chevy Lumina heading west on Highway 2, coming from Grand Forks to Devils Lake. The driver is 43 and two passengers are 22 and another is 23 years old. All three are from Devils Lake, according to an accident report.

A 2011 International truck, driven by a 45-year-old from Grafton, was heading north on Highway 1 across the eastbound lane of Highway 2. The driver was coming from a rural Lakota residence to the Lakota area.

At the intersection of the two highways, the truck driver was attempting to cross the westbound lane of Highway 2 and continue on Highway 1.

According to the patrol, the truck driver pulled out in front of the Lumina in the westbound lane of Highway 2.

The front of the Lumina collided with the side of the truck. The Lumina was totaled as a result. The truck had undercarriage damage.

Neither driver was able to avoid the crash. It remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.

Charges against the truck driver are "under investigation."

The truck driver was not wearing a seat belt. The driver and four passengers in the Lumina were.

At the time of the crash, the roadway was icy and there was snow and blowing snow.
