Salvation Army Close To Reaching Fundraising GoalNow that the holidays are over, the Salvation Army in Grand Forks is totaling up all of the money raised this season.
Now that the holidays are over, the Salvation Army in Grand Forks is totaling up all of the money raised this season. The total so far has come to 128 thousand dollars; their overall goal is to reach 264 thousand.
The money that's raised goes to local assistance programs like the food shelf, utilities and housing assistance.
With the snow storm last week, the Salvation Army was looking at lower totals than expected, but Major Ed Wilson says the community pulled together and rose to the challenge.
Maj. Ed Wilson says, "The way it looks now the way the community has come behind us, we will be able to stay on track budget wise and help out whereever we can this coming year."
Wilson says they are at 88 percent of their total goal; last year at this time they were at 55 percent. The Salvation Army still has two weeks left of fund raising.
