2 Spirit Lake Tribe Members Plead Guilty to Embezzlement

(WDAZ-TV) - Two members of the Spirit Lake Tribe in Fort Totten, ND, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to embezzle from an Indian tribal organization.

(WDAZ-TV) - Two members of the Spirit Lake Tribe in Fort Totten, ND, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to embezzle from an Indian tribal organization.

William Kazena, 67, and Martina Kazena, 66, admitting to using funds from the Vocational Rehabilitation Program, which is administered by the tribe.

Martina Kazena admitted she was director of the program and approved benefits to her husband and other that they weren't entitled to.

Five others are charged in the conspiracy. They're trial is set for March 13.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
