GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of shooting two people in a van inside a northeastern North Dakota potato warehouse now faces a second count of attempted murder.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of shooting two people in a van inside a northeastern North Dakota potato warehouse now faces a second count of attempted murder.

Thirty-year-old Jason Mize of Hoople initially was charged with attempted murder in the shooting of 43-year-old Thomas Denault of Park River and attempted manslaughter in the shooting of 19-year-old Sierra Hobbs of Crystal.

Walsh County State's Attorney Barbara Whelan tells the Grand Forks Herald (http://bit.ly/zu0FMO ) the attempted manslaughter charge has been amended after further investigation.

Authorities say Denault and Hobbs were shot while sleeping in the van, which Denault was living in. They say Denault and Mize had argued while partying at the warehouse earlier in the night.

Mize has asked the court for a new public defender, saying he's dissatisfied with his current attorney.
