This year the University of North Dakota is posting the second highest enrollment ever. Students say choosing UND was easy.
Joshua Starkweather: "Its fairly cheap compared to other schools I have instate tuition in Minnesota you get reciprocity so it's a great atmosphere and there's lot of sports teams."
Chris Battle:"It has multi-cultural scholarships and others for everyone so its a really good place to be especially financially speaking."
The numbers break down like this.As of today there's 13,172 students that up 424 from last years 12,748. There's 1,992 freshman that's up 3-percent and transfer students are up close to a record 7-percent at 811.
Robert Kelley/UND President: "The reputation of the school is very excellent we have great teachers faculty. I think the reputation is bringing more students in for the quality of instruction."
UND President Robert Kelley says the increase is a direct result of new recruitment efforts they've worked on. Kelley says the key is spreading the word.
Robert Kelley/UND President:"We're certainly taking a look at our website the door into the University we're constantly updating our homepage our website we have out an initiative into getting out into the community into the state and talk about our programs."
Kelley says he wants to beat 2004's record of 13,187 next year. That's just 15 more than this fall's enrollment.
