GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - The city-owned Corporate Center at 402 Demers Ave. in downtown Grand Forks will soon have a few new tenants.
Two women will open businesses on the first floor of the Corporate Center.
Sadie Gardner with "Sadie's Couture Floral and Event Styling" will move into one first-floor space. And Katie Norby is starting a new business called "Tre Chic Bridal and Formal Styling" in the second first-floor space.
Their hope is to create a "one-stop shop for event planning."
The building was built in 1999 and the first floor has been empty ever since.
Grand Forks' Growth Fund Committee approved a two-year lease for the entrepreneurs on Thursday.
"We all really want to see some more activity downtown, specifically retail, specifically some boutique like offerings. And again, that whole concept of this one-stop shop," Sadie Gardner said.
The space needs some construction work before the two women can move in. Three other related event planning businesses are looking into vacant space on the second floor.
