GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Supporters of locked-out union workers at American Crystal Sugar are helping them get by.
A month-long food drive is well underway in downtown Grand Forks.
The union is asking for non-perishable food items or money donations.
People can drop off items at the union office on North 3rd Street from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
They will distribute the items to families in five separate locations: Moorehead, Hillsboro, Drayton, Crookston and East Grand Forks.
"Right now we're thinking that a lot more people will be interested in helping out since we're helping all five locations and we need a little bit more support as far as the food drives go because unemployment is going to start running out soon for people too," food driver coordinator Debra Kostrezwski said.
The food drive lasts until February 24.
