(WDAZ-TV) - On Thursday, we'll unveil our new weather center and graphics that have been undergoing a complete makeover.
WDAZ will now have the area's most state-of-the-art storm tracking system.
"The video technology with this system is the best available in the world for weather graphics now. It's better than anything you'll see," meteorologist John Wheeler said.
From wide-screen format, to new graphics, to 3D storm tracking, WDAZ will bring you the latest in weather forecasting.
"We'll be able to show you in such fine detail and such clarity where the weather is happening now, why it's doing what it's doing and where it's going to go next," Wheeler said.
The new storm tracking system uses five different radars. When severe weather strikes, our weather team can give you a minute by minute calculation of where a storm might hit.
"You'll be able to pick out within the storm whether there's hail, whether there's possibilIty of tornado or wind shear. It'll make our lives a lot easier," meteorologist Rob Kupec said.
And it doesn't just break it down by city. We can zoom well inside of a community to let you know what's going on right in your neighborhood.
"Excited and a little nervous. There's a lot more information here to digest and to get up to speed on pretty quickly," Kupec said.
For the complete show, watch starting at 5, 6 and 10 on Thursday.
