As Petition Deadline Nears, Nickname Supporters Seek Signatures Statewide

(WDAZ-TV) - With just days left in the Fighting Sioux nickname petition drive, supporters are planning to get signatures around the state with events in Fargo, Bismarck, Minot and Devils Lake.
The petitioners are seeking to repeal the law passed by the North Dakota Legislature that officially retired the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.
They have until February 7 to get 13,500 signatures to repeal Senate Bill 2370. If they get those signatures and turn them in to Secretary of State Al Jaeger, the bill will by nullified until voters can weigh in at the June 12 primary election.
Events are planned at the following locations:
Fargo
West Acres Mall food court
10 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 2
Bismarck
State Capital
Cafeteria entrance
9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily
Minot

During normal business hours on Thursday, Friday, Feb 3 and Monday. February 6.
