FARGO – Police say two robbers with a handgun demanded a delivery driver hand over his pizza and money, then took off with just the pizza when the driver told them it looked like the weapon displayed was a BB gun.

The armed robbery happened at about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday outside an apartment building in the 3500 block of 28th Street South, Lt. Joel Vettel said.

Police believe the robbers probably phoned in the pizza order, Vettel said.

The suspects were described as two white males in their late teens to early 20s, both about 5 feet 8 inches tall with medium builds. One was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, and the other had on a black hoodie. Both wore black bandanas with white designs pulled up to their eyes, Vettel said.

The weapon was described as a black semi-automatic handgun. When the driver told them it looked like a BB gun, the robbers grabbed his pizza bag and ran, Vettel said.

A K-9 unit tracked the suspects for a distance but lost their scent.

Vettel said police advise people to comply with the demands of armed robbers and not put themselves at risk for merchandise or cash.
