GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The student body president at the University of North Dakota says students are becoming tired of the ongoing debate over the school's Fighting Sioux nickname.

Kylie Overson tells North Dakota Public Radio that students on both sides of the issue are sick of hearing about it and having to deal with it.

UND has gone back to using the nickname that the NCAA finds offensive at least until a likely June statewide vote on whether it should be kept. Supporters have filed petitions with the secretary of state to trigger the public vote.

Overson says the nickname debate that has dragged on for years is frustrating. She says "it's taking a lot of energy that we could be spending elsewhere."
