Each storm that hits Devils Lake brings more unwanted snow for homeowners. The city is now facing a problem with people dumping their unwanted snow where it doesn't belong. There are ordinances that people must follow when moving snow. But city officials say they haven't been followed.

When clearing driveways, people are not supposed to throw the snow on the street. You are also not allowed to put snow on someone else's property.

The fine for violating the law is $500. City officials say they are going to start enforcing these ordinances more.

Myron Asleson/Public Ways Department Supervisor: "Even yesterday morning after this latest snowfall there was many people that were blowing their driveway snow into the street, and it's just not acceptable."

The city is also going to be cracking down on vehicles left parked in streets. They will be tagged and if left there an additional 48 hours, they will be towed.

Devils Lake got about 4 more inches of snow over the last two days.
