GF Burger King Robbery Suspect Identified

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Police has positively identified the man accused of robbing the South Washington Burger King on Saturday night.

Police say Drew M. Smith, 22, of Ada, MN, also had an active warrant in Grand Forks County District Court along with two felony warrants out of Polk County.

Smith is being held at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

Smith initially refused to cooperate with police or give them his identification, but later told jailers he was indeed Drew Smith. Police worked to confirm that information and released that it was correct early Monday evening.

He faces charges of attempted robbery, terrorizing and simple assault.

Two male Burger King employees were able to detain Smith until police arrived Saturday night. He wasn't armed.
