CHICAGO — Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews was involved in an automobile accident on the way to the United Center.

According to Chicago police, the Blackhawks captain turned his auto onto an eastbound street. As he was doing so, the Mercedes Benz struck a support pillar of a Chicago Transit Authority elevated rail line.

The police report says Toews was not injured and no citations were written.

In a text message to the Chicago Tribune, Toews said “It's nothing serious at all,” adding, “I'm good.”

Toews, a former University of North Dakota standout, was scheduled to miss Thursday's Blackhawks game against the Dallas Stars due to an “upper-body injury.”

Coach Joel Quenneville said Toews is “progressing,” but it hasn't been decided if he will travel with the team to Los Angeles for Saturday's game against the Kings.
