Although the Salvation Army's holiday campaign fell short of goals in some areas, it did better in the Lake Region. The campaign not only reached the goal of $20,000, it also exceeded it for the first time. It brought in $1,500 more than organizers had hoped.
Bell ringers collected money outside local stores, and grocery stores did their own fundraising. The money raised all stays in Ramsey County. The Salvation Army also collected more than $3,000 worth of gifts for needy children.
Lisa Ripplinger/Assistant Program Coordinator: "Each child received more than just one gift so we were able to bless many families throughout the season."
The Salvation Army had more volunteers this year, and more than 200 bell ringers in the Lake Region.
