PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison for grand theft by deception in a South Dakota case related to sales of steel buildings.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says that 63-year-old Dennis Lee Burton of West Fargo, N.D., collected down payments for the buildings and then failed to deliver them.

Jackley says Burton was also sentenced for 21 months for failure to pay sales tax, but the sentences will run concurrent.

Burton was ordered to pay nearly $140,000 in restitution and more than $8,000 to the state for sales tax violations.

This case was investigated by the South Dakota Department of Revenue and the Division of Criminal Investigation and was prosecuted by the Attorney General's office.
