ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A St. Paul man has pleaded guilty to dousing his girlfriend's 19-year-old son with lighter fluid last summer and setting him on fire while he slept.

Fifty-five-year-old Curtis Edwin Reed pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree assault. A St. Paul Pioneer Press report (http://bit.ly/x7uSQo ) says a plea agreement calls for a prison sentence of at least 12 years.

Prosecutors say Antoine Willis suffered second- and third-degree burns that will permanently disfigure his face, neck and hands.

Reed testified that he was angry about "being jumped on" earlier by Willis when Reed was arguing with the teen's mother.

Witnesses said Reed told the teen he "better not fall asleep." Reed denied saying that.

The mother told police that an argument with Reed had turned physical, and her son intervened to protect her.
