(AP) — The National Weather Service says the main snowmelt runoff and initial spring flooding for the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota will pick up steam in the coming week.

The Weather Service says a massive Northern Plains warm-up is on track for the week with daytime highs in the 50s and lows remaining above freezing.

The most recent forecast for the Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., area calls for only nuisance flooding that might close some roads and paths.

The Weather Service says residents should be on the lookout for localized ice jam flooding.
