New technology is coming to Altru in Grand Forks.

The hospital is being awarded $85,000 by the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline program.

The money will go to new monitors for ambulances.

The upgrade will allow paramedics to do EKGs that are immediately sent to the hospital for doctors to read.

This may let patients bypass the emergency room and be taken straight to the cath lab.

Art Culver, Ambulance Services Manager, says this technology will allow patients to get to the right place quickly to remove blockage from their arteries.

Mission Lifeline has donated more than seven million dollars to improve care for heart attack patients in North Dakota.
