(AP) — Mack Arvidson helped Grand Forks Red River halt a long title drought, leading the Roughriders to a 78-74 victory over Fargo Shanley in the championship game of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament on Saturday.
Arvidson sank seven 3-pointers and finished with 30 points and seven rebounds for Red River (23-2). The state title is the second in school history, and the first since 1969.
Red River shot 51 percent from the field, including 11 for 18 (61 percent) from 3-point range. Mac Kroeplin hit three 3-pointers and ended with 23 points and seven rebounds. Ricky Farroh added 11 points for the Riders.
Patrick Strom scored 24 points and hit four of Shanley's 10 3-pointers in the contest. A.J. Jacobson added 22 points and 10 rebounds.
