GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - For some of us, it's hard to even make it to the gym, but for 39-year-old Denae Grove, dedication is an understatement.

The East Grand Forks runner is training for the Fargo marathon while battling breast cancer second time.

"4:30 in the morning, 30 below, she'll go run eight miles," Denae's husband Shane Grove said.

Nothing has ever stopped Denae Grove from running a Fargo marathon, not even breast cancer she battled in 2009. Grove elected to have surgery just two weeks after being diagnosed.

"It was just bam bam bam get the double mastectomy, do the chemo, hit it hard," Shane said.

"The idea was we did everything right the first time. We went the most radical route, we didn't go conservative, we did everything. So it was going to be a one time shot and we were going to be done and move on to the rest of life," Denae said.

But the cancer returned in the same place last fall. She's now prepping for her last round of chemo, all while running four days a week and biking or swimming at least two others.

While Grove is facing her own battles, she's helping others with theirs. The registered dietician says her goal is to help others get fit. She talks to groups including the special olympics and has created a special run for children.

"Just to get kids out and moving, that's the point," Denae said.

Even with all she does for those around her, Grove is surprised and overwhelmed by all the support. Neighbors put up pink ribbons around the city to show their support.

"It's the people you see everyday, but it's so much more then that. It's the entire community that has rallied around us," Shane said.

The community has made a website for people to bring food to the Grove family. The first day the website opened, several people had signed up to bring the family meals four months in advance.

Denae has won awards for marathons in Phoenix and Mankato.
