GF Lawmaker Not Running for Re-electionA Grand Forks law-maker has decided not to run for re-election in the North Dakota House of Representatives.
A Grand Forks law-maker has decided not to run for re-election in the North Dakota House of Representatives.
After 20 years in the North Dakota House of Representatives, Republican Ken Svedjan says he will not seek re-election this year.
He says he will retire from public service in November.
Svedjan has served in a number of committee leadership positions at both the state and national levels.
He says he's tried to help shape state policies to grow and diversify North Dakota's economy... lower taxes and address emergency situations statewide.
Svedjan says his time in the House has been challenging, but a great experience.
Svedjan says he will help find a possible candidate for his position.
Ken Svedjan: "I certainly don't want to leave our district high and dry. I want to do what I can to find a strong candidate and that's never easy."
Svedjan says although he will miss the people in the legislature, he will not miss the drive to and from Bismarck and is looking forward to spending more time with his family.
