DEVILS LAKE (WDAZ-TV) - Police are looking for the person who used a counterfeit bill at a local business.
The bill was used at Walmart on March 2. Police say Walmart contacted them to report a counterfeit bill, but that it had already been sent to the bank.
Police only got a photocopy, which they say showed the watermark of a $5 bill.
They say it was most likely bleached and dyed to resemble a $100 bill.
Police say that bill has been the only one detected in Devils Lake so far. Devils Lake police sent a photocopy of the bill to Crookston police, who have seen counterfeit bills show up there.
They Devils Lake bill doesn't appear to be similar to ones used in Crookston.
