EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - The tax season clock is ticking as there's about one month left to file for returns. Waiting until the last minute can cause some stress, but on Thursday some people in East Grand Forks got a little relief at the local library.

A team of volunteers has been extremely busy assisting elderly and low-income people in the community in filling out their tax forms.

The deadline to file your taxes is Tuesday, April 17. 13 local AARP volunteers trained by the IRS have been working frantically this season to make sure everyone gets as much money back as they can.

Volunteers served around 700 people last year, and they expect to serve even more this tax season.

Nearly 20 people were lined up well before the start time of 1 p.m., with some showing up as early as 10 a.m.

The best part of the program is that it's 100 percent free
