(WDAZ-TV) - A South Dakota State graduate student is tracking deer in about 500 square miles of Walsh and Grand Forks Counties.
The study is to learn more about the animals' movement, mortality and habitat use in farming areas. 40 whitetail does were captured and fitted with radio collars in February.
Kristin Sterhagen is monitoring signals that the collars emit to track locations of those deer. Each collar has a unique signal.
