Belcourt Man Pleads Guilty in Stabbing

BISMARCK (WDAZ-TV) - A Belcourt, ND, man has pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon in a May 2011 stabbing.
Bobby L. Bercier Jr., 35, was at a party on May 6 in the Belcourt area. According to U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon, Bercier stabbed the victim in the stomach while at the party. The victim sought medical attention for the injury, which wasn't life-threatening.
The charge of assault with a dangerous weapon carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
Bercier will be sentenced July 30, 2012 in Bismarck.
