GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Police surrounded an apartment building on Wednesday on Continental Drive to try to arrest a man with an outstanding warrant.

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Police surrounded an apartment building on Wednesday on Continental Drive to try to arrest a man with an outstanding warrant.

Police say 36-year-old Randall Kareem Marshall of Fargo had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault. Marshall is accused of stabbing Dustin Keplin nearly two weeks ago.

Grand Forks Police and officers on the narcotics task force watched the building for several hours. They say they had reason to believe Marshall was inside the building, but he wasn't answering the door or any phone calls.

At least five undercover officers were armed on scene.

"I can't get into the specifics about what the case was, though for an aggravated assault charge, either there has to be serious injury or some sort of weapon used in an assault. Any time we deal with those circumstances we tend to make sure we have enough officers present to handle the situation properly," Sgt. Bill Macki said.

After police got the okay to enter the apartment, Marshall was arrested without incident.

Keplin remains in the hospital with non life-threatening injuries from the stabbing.
