GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - The Grand Forks Convention and Visitor's Bureau is honoring people who have helped boost tourism in the Grand Cities on Thursday night.

This year's Hometown Heroes award recipients included Tourism Contributor of the Year, which was Mike Brown with Spring-Hill Suites.

Event of the Year was the Rollin' on the River Inline Marathon.

The Event or Convention Organizer of the Year was Todd Olson and Jeanette Dahl who organized high school tournaments.

The Organization of the Year was the Grand Forks Park District.

And the Hospitality Person of the Year was Katie Hughes with Little Bangkok and Drunken Noodle.

"There's people that are working really hard to bring conventions, events, create new events, and we just thought that they should be recognized," CVB Executive Director Julie Rygg said.

Rygg says these people play a vital role in the local tourism industry and help the convention and visitors bureau boost the industry.

This is the fifth year of the Hometown Heroes awards.
