URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) — Two Des Moines Buccaneers hockey players face misdemeanor assault charges after a fight in the stands at the Urbandale arena in suburban Des Moines.

Police say 18-year-old Kevin Irwin and 17-year-old Tanner Karty got into a fight March 10 with Fargo Force player Neal Goff and his grandfather, Gerald Pipes. Police say the dispute stemmed from an on-ice incident the night before when Goff reportedly uttered a racial slur to a Buccaneers player.

Irwin, Karty and Goff were kept out of uniform on March 10 but found each other in the stands.

Public phone listings for Irwin and Karty could not be found. They didn't immediately respond to messages left with a team spokesman on Friday. Online court records don't list the names of their attorneys.
