BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a Mandaree man has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for child abuse.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 38-year-old Norman Standish was sentenced on Thursday. He pleaded guilty to the charge in September.
Standish also was ordered to pay more than $112,000 in restitution.
Authorities say Standish was caring for a 2-month-old foster child in April 2010 and shook the infant, resulting in injury to the child's head and brain. The baby required hospitalization for several weeks following the incident.
