GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Middle school and high school students from across North Dakota showed off their science and engineering projects at UND on Thursday.

The North Dakota State Science and Engineering Fair kicked off. The state competition has been going on for more than 60 years.

Around 200 students will spend Thursday and Friday at UND. Students set up their projects and toured the university today.

The competition begins Friday.

They bring in English skills, graphic arts, all kids of different skills, so it's a fantastic learning experience and I think if they didn't have that, sometimes they're just afraid of science and this gives them an in to actually experience it," Karen Cisek said.

The fair will be open to the public Friday afternoon at the UND Wellness Center.
