The People To Save The Sheyenne are looking to have Joe Belford replaced as a member of the Red River Basin Commission. Belford currently serves as treasurer and helped establish the group.
The group has said they don't think Belford can be an objective member of the board. It's been circulating a letter calling for him to be replaced. The board doesn't select directors, rather they are determined at a meeting. Belford says he's known this group has had some issues with him being on the board, but he hopes they can work it out.
Joe Belford/Red River Basin Commission Treasurer: "They were claiming that they wanted somebody on the Sheyenne River closer to Valley City and they do have a person on the board from Valley City-the mayor of Valley City serves on the board."
Belford's current term on the board expires in the fall of 2011.
