BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — It's down to a two-man race for the North Dakota Republican U.S. House endorsement.

Brian Kalk widened his lead Sunday in a second round of balloting at the North Dakota Republican convention in Bismarck. Shane Goettle (GET'-uhl) was still running second.

Five candidates competed for the endorsement.

Bette Grande, Kim Koppelman and DuWayne Hendrickson all lost ground during the second ballot and dropped out. Now there will be a third vote.

The second-ballot tally was Kalk, 785 votes; Goettle, 655; Bette Grande, 136; Kim Koppelman, 49; and DuWayne Hendrickson, 11.

A candidate needs at least 859 votes to win.

Kalk was 15 votes up on Goettle in the first vote. In the second, Kalk's lead was 130 votes.
